Eating in Baiting Hollow

Eating in Baiting Hollow

Best Places to Eat in Baiting Hollow, Long Island

When you think of Long Island, Baiting Hollow may not be the first spot on your list.  However, this beautiful part of God’s country holds a special place in my heart.

My home is here and I take great pride in patronizing local businesses. Since Baiting Hollow is in wine country, the wine is worth enjoying at the local restaurants.

Brunch is Divine

There are only a few places to eat in Baiting Hollow, but there are several more just a few miles away. The Cooperage Inn is the place to eat in Baiting Hollow. If do go, go for brunch.

The Sunday Brunch menu is my absolute favorite, especially the chef’s steak specials and seafood specials. I also enjoy visiting The Cooperage Inn for dinner.  In turn, I have never been disappointed in the large entrees, small plates, and family style meals.

Their wine options are also very good, as most of the choices come from Long Island or from California. I always enjoy the offerings from Paumanok Vineyards and their semi-dry Riesling is a good choice for an after dinner treat.

Eating on the River

About five miles away is another special place, La Plage in Wading River. This gem rests on the coast and on lovely nights the terrace is the best place to eat on the planet.

It is a romantic restaurant and it has one of the best raw bars. My favorite meal is the Caramelized Sea Scallops, but the Filet Mignon is not too bad, either.

I love that this restaurant gets many ingredients from local farms.  I know that my food is not only delicious, but it doesn’t travel far to get to the plate.

Dessert to End

When I’m in the mood for something sweet, I head to Briermere Farms for a pie. Not a slice, but the whole darn thing.

This haven for pie is on Sound Avenue in Riverhaven, close to the Long Island National Golf Club. It’s worth the short drive to bring home a pie when I’m craving homemade desserts.

Depending on the season, there are certain pies that are my favorites. The apple pies are always delicious, but there isn’t anything quite like the raspberry pie or the cherry cream pie. I’ve tried most of them and I’ve never been disappointed.

There are plenty of other favorite places to visit near my home, but these are three that come to mind before any others. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
